Good gaming room lighting comes in layers: something behind the screen, something on the wall, something in the corner. Mix two or three and the room glows instead of just being lit. Here's what to use for each layer.
1. Around the screen
The Govee Gaming Light Bars Pro are 16-inch RGBIC bars that light from the front, top and base. Govee Desktop on Windows matches them to the colors on your screen, and a built-in mic syncs them to music.
2. On the wall
The Hexagon LED Light Panels come as a set of eight, with 16 million colors and over 200 modes that react to music, controlled by app or remote. The Govee Gaming Pixel Light is a 32x32 pixel panel that shows the time, weather and scores, plays over 150 scenes or your own GIFs, and has an 8-bit speaker.

3. In the corner
The Govee RGBIC Floor Lamp is 53.7 in tall, with each segment in its own color, at up to 1,000 lumens: best for corners and smaller rooms. The Smart RGB Corner Floor Lamp has 68+ scenes and a built-in mic that pulses the light to music, movies or games, controlled by app or remote.

4. Behind the desk
The Govee RGBIC LED Strip is 16.4 ft and shows several colors at once, unlike standard RGB, with 11 music modes through a built-in mic. Run it along the back of the desk or under a shelf.
5. On the ceiling
The Thundercloud LED Ceiling Kit includes a 16.4 ft RGB storm strip, a remote, an adapter and 2 lb of cotton cloud fill with glue. It mimics real lightning, with a 2, 3 or 4-hour timer.

How to light a gaming room
- Light behind the screen reduces the contrast between screen and wall.
- Pick two colors for the whole room, not every color at once.
- Keep one warm, plain light for when you're not gaming.
